He’s making a gerneralized statement from a specific experience… which is human and we all do it at times, but…like my Zumba instructor once said, you have to try anything three times before you can announce that it unequivocally sucks; the first time, you’re new and don’t know what you’re doing and you flounder; the second is when you’re starting to get the hang of it and begin to adapt but still make mistakes; the third time you can let loose and enjoy it, or decide this just isn’t for you.

She was talking about dance class though, and not marriage, but she has a point.
