How to Figure Out Your Superpowers

A quick exercise to discover — and harness — your powers for good

Everyone has something that they are uniquely adept at doing, or that comes so easily to them, they almost discount it as a skill.

I remember watching a show with my parents when I was a kid and the characters on the show discussed this (though they said each person had 3 superpowers). In the show, one of the character’s power was the ability to parallel park, no matter how seemingly small the space was. This exchange stood out to me because I did not yet have my driver’s license, but was nearing that age and the thought of parallel parking terrified me.

Since then, I’ve thought a lot about this concept. I believe everyone has skills that are strongest where they also align with natural interest (because when you love doing something, you’re willing to be bad at it and put in the time and hours practicing to get better). But what about those “God-given talents?”

What about the health care professional who intuitively knows that there’s something more going on and actually wants to seek the answers, instead of pass the patient along? Or the 3-year-old with perfect pitch who can sing like a trained diva? What about inventors who don’t have formal training in weather, physics, or welding but can create…
