You may be on to something with the forced asceticism...although I can usually tell when a spell is coming on because my shopping habits get worse (luckily, I also enjoy returning things I buy, so I'm not racking up debt). It's like I first try to plug whatever hole I'm feeling with less-than-healthy behaviors (which could admittedly be worse), and then if that doesn't work, i then recede from peopling as punishment?
