I wonder how much of this is the halo effect that taller men experience; they message that is reinforced by society is that they are peak specimens so they become lazy and rely on that, rather than developing a sense of kindness and compassion, or wicked funny personality or other important factors. (Yes, I'm grossly over generalizing, but it calls to mind that Herman Hesse short story about the boy who is given the gift of being loved and how it ruins him, and then he is given the gift of loving others).
