Interesting perspective... I can see where you're coming from.

I always thought people who only say Hi or Hey or What's up were lazy, or perhaps didn't care that much. It didn't make me feel singled out for their attentions (and yes, I understand that these were the initial stages, but I had a lot of substance to my profile that they could have commented on if they were actually interested and not just spamming every girl who crossed their page).

I was one of those who would match the effort put forth, so if a guy's message said Hi and only Hi, I would say hi and only hi in return. But if he came out with a quirky question, or responded to something I'd written in my profile, I would respond in kind. And when I initiated a conversation, I did so with more than a Hi.
