I've noticed that when people follow an unconventional path that is authentic to them, it (internally) challenges those who aren't living authentically and that often precipitates relationship breakups.

I'm so sorry you're struggling with tricky things between your mom, brother and you, AND it sounds as if have welcomed more love into your life through your boyfriend's family. That's awesome. So often, its about the families we make and not those we were given.
