Oh my friend. I hear you. That does hurt. Man… I’ve occasionally canceled on people when I’ve been really under… and sometimes I show up anyway, and just preface it by telling them I’m a mess and probably only up for bingewatching home renovation shows, but could do that together (or whatever) so that I’m not canceling. If they’re a real friend, I can show up authentically, right? But not everyone can handle that, I’m learning. So the “good time” friends aren’t people I’m investing a ton of effort in either.

Thank you. Our tribes are out there, I'm sure of it. And yes...you are right, if they're a real friend you can show up authentically. I've done that plenty of times with friends, where neither of us feel like doing much, or just feeling blue…
