There are always two sides… and on his side, my (our?) wants and needs did not factor as highly as his wants and needs, and so the decision was obvious to him. What I resented the most was not even that he made this decision unilaterally, but that he basically just told me I’d better get on board and deal with it because it was done. Move along. Nothing to see here, folks. And don’t ever bring up how it made you feel because that doesn’t matter; this is the past.

Reading about divorce or relationships not working out can scare people, and make them want to rationalize or justify the other side (especially if they see elements of themselves on the other side).
